Mending is a practical way to repair textiles, extend their use, or add interest to a personal object. Mending services range from subtle “invisible” repairs that are unnoticeable at a distance to decorative “visible mending” techniques on both woven and knit fabrics.
Common Mending Projects & Price Estimates
MACHINE DARNING/STABILIZING - for tears or holes in woven fabrics, such as rips at seams, threadbare fabric, etc.
1-4” tears - $10
4-10” tears - $20
Call or email for an estimate on more extensive damage, such as multiple tears, etc.
DARNING - for holes in knit fabrics, sweaters, socks, etc.
<1” - $7
1-2” - $12
2-4” - $18
>4” - $24+ (depending on extend of damage)
PATCHES - matching or contrasting patches for damaged fabric; decorative stitching
1-4” patches - $10
4-8” patches - $16
>8” patches/multiple patches - $20+
BUTTONS - $3 per button
ZIPPER REPLACEMENT - $20+ (plus cost of zipper)
HAND-SEWN MENDS - for delicate or complex textiles, for awkward constructions that will not fit the sewing machine (quilts, heirlooms, coats, formalwear, etc.)
All sewing is $14 per hour
Hand-sewn mends range $10-30+ depending on size, materials, etc.
